User Community & Goals

Simply speaking, the goal of Blog City is to build a comprehensive map of Toronto in which the “memories” of physical spaces are gathered in a single online web application available for anyone to explore and contribute to.

Its success will depend in large part to the participation of many, many users on an ongoing basis. Due to the continued influx of information generated by online users with weblogs, much support will be needed from the “community” of Toronto-based bloggers (ie. visit gtabloggers.com or fotolog.net for examples).

With this in mind, I will work towards making the most transparent and usable interface possible to allow for the everyday blogger to easily add data to Blog City. Support for various blog management tools such as Movable Type, Blogger, LiveJournal, RadioCity, custom-built, etc. will be important considerations in the development stage.

Continued feedback from the user community will be gladly accepted in order to shape Blog City into an exciting tool that many can find value in.

Potential uses for Blog City include:
- an underground directory to spread the word about places to visit (or avoid),
- a photo documentary or archive,
- a networking tool for meeting other people who attend the same events,
- a planner for spontaneous smart mob performances,
- or all of the above.
